World Underneath 23 'Beyond Survival' is told from the perspective of Myer — an Astral Enforcer from Philos who has dedicated his entire career to capturing Sylus. The chapter establishes Sylus's Philos origin: he is the most dangerous interstellar fugitive, 'the man Myer has spent his entire life hunting,' and someone who 'chose to become a fiend while destroying and leaving Philos behind.' On Philos, desire and love are forbidden — Sylus is the embodiment of their rejection. Myer has followed him to Earth; his elaborate surveillance network in N109 eventually reveals that the 'major operation' he has been monitoring is actually Sylus on a date with MC at a claw-machine pop-up store.
