Under Deepspace 3-08 'Where Light Vanishes' is the first chapter to mention Onychinus by name on-screen. Xavier identifies the modified Protocore from its energy signature as Onychinus-made. At the end of the scene, Mephisto — Sylus's fully mechanical crow, built by Sylus himself — appears on-screen for the first time, watching Xavier and MC. This is Sylus's effective first presence in the story before he appears in person.
