One of his paintings induces hallucinations in MC when she touches it. Forensic work traces the hallucinogenic painting back to Rafayel. MC visits Mo Art Studio to confront him. Rafayel reveals that the paint contains red coral stone — when ground and mixed with his own blood it becomes hallucinogenic. Wanderers attack during their conversation; they fight side-by-side and Rafayel is impressed by her capability. He 'hires' her as his bodyguard — a framing that positions them for continued contact. What is not yet explicit at this stage is that the hallucinogenic effect is intentional and can be lethal: Raymond is being slowly killed by his own collection.
